Finals Next Week!

Finals are NEXT WEEK!! I can't believe that it's going to be summer! I'm so excited, I'm just ready for some warm weather and to be able to take a break and go on a few vacations. I leave for Mission Beach, CA the day after my last final... starting things off right I'd say! Tonight I went down to Layton to play softball on a league down there with my brother and a few high school friends, It Was Awesome! We were down by 8 points in 5th inning and in the 6th we scored 10 and WON! It was the best feeling ever... Probably one of the funnest games that I have ever played. So now I'm gonna try to stay focused for the next 10 or 11 days and finish strong then have the best summer ever! I went down to Escalante this past weekend to hike "Coyote Gulch", it was super fun and I am way antsy to go on some fun trips this summer.

E-Week, Campus Rail Jam

Last week there was a rail jam up on campus that I competed in... I got spanked by those other guys! There was a lot of talent up there but more than that it was just SUPER FUN! They came the day before and started setting up the rails in the middle of the quad. There wasn't any snow and they had plans of hauling down 25 TONS of snow from Beaver Mtn. That night it snowed 8" in Logan and there was no need to bring down snow, it was perfect. The snow is all gone now and all that's left are the memories, but I would do it again in a heart beat.

Spring Break '010

Just got back from spring break in Mexico Friday morning, there were about 50 students from Utah State that went down there. We left last Friday and got there on Sunday afternoon after stopping in both St. George, Las Vegas, and Phoenix on the way. We stayed in Rocky Point and had some great warm weather for a few days. We did a bunch of skim boarding and swimming, it was just nice to go down and relax on the sand. Thursday morning we went out on a small fishing boat at about 7:00 A.M. with 5 other guys and 1 girl, it ended up being a blast, definitely a highlight of the trip! The drive home was agonizing! It took like 16 hours and we drove straight through, 5 of us in a Toyota Corolla, yeah baby! My heart goes out to Conner, he had his car stolen while we were there and thank you Mexican government, Extremely helpful... NOT! So, Sorry buddy I'll give you a ride wherever you need on my moped.

Hmmm... What to do in Logan tomorrow?

So elections are starting tomorrow up here and I am on the elections committee up here for students running for ASUSU offices. The poles open for voting in the morning and will go till friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.. But that's not what I'm excited about, oh no. My student ward up here is going to Beaver Mtn. Ski resort for their annual ski night. I work up there in the afternoon tomorrow so I will already be there. Skiing starts at 5:00 and will go till about 9:00 or so. Last year we did this and I got to take like all of the left over food from dinner so I slept over in the tiny little shack up there and had food for the next day of skiing. It was probably one of my most memorable nights up here. I was all alone and had no cell phone service but I got Wi-Fi so I emailed a few friends to keep sane and watched "HotRod" ALL ALONE! It was way fun though, I remember laughing at that movie by myself and feeling dorky but had nobody to make fun of me so I kept laughing. Tomorrow I will film some of the activities of the day and hopefully learn how to post them on this blog. If not I'm sure that you'll see them at http://www.usu.edu/admissions/friends/

Spelling Bee

Tonight was the 1st annual spelling bee by the college of education up at the school. The winner got a Brand New Mac book and the three runners up all received prizes as well. But the 3rd and 4th place winners got wimpy dictionaries. I signed up thinking that it would be a good experience, I have never been in a spelling bee before. but it turned out being much more difficult than I thought it would be. I lost in the second round! T.R.E.A.C.H.E.R.O.U.S. was the sad sad word that I went out on. Spelling Bees are difficult. The spotlight is shining directly in your eyes, my knees were shaking, the crowd heckled, it was just an all around scary experience. Oh well, if I didn't get out in the 2nd round I would have been eliminated like 1 or 2 rounds later. But ask me that word in 50 years and I guarantee that I won't misspell it again. I may still spell every fifth word or so wrong on this blog, but I will not spell treacherous wrong again.

Spring "Aggie Blue"

At the end of summer last year I went to a fall leadership conference up here at Utah State called "Aggie Blue". This past week we had a little reunion with all the students that attended this leadership conference. It was way fun! We had a big raffle and everybody got free Costa Vida. then we had a guest speaker come in and talk about many different things that were very helpful to me. I have always struggled with taking the initiative and setting too small of goals. He hit those two points right on the nose. I would recommend "Aggie Blue" to any student that is now or in the future going to attend Utah State, it is a great learning and building experience!

Martin Luther King Jr. Day!!

Yep, Froze our bums off this morning... so last night my friend Tyson and I were debating on what we should today since we were out of school for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. So I threw out the idea to go fly fishing up the Logan river which sounded really good last night while we were sitting in our nice warm house watching 24. This morning was a different story. I woke up to a fresh sheet of snow on my windshield and the desire to fish had completely subsided. But later on the weather warmed up a little and we headed up the canyon about twenty minutes from Utah State ready for anything... so we thought. The water was freezing cold, even with our sweats, wool socks, sweaters, jackets, waders, and hats. My toes nearly fell off I swear! So it was cold but at least we didn't catch any fish...
Just another great holiday fishing trip
It was all redeemed tonight when we went to KFC with some friends and had fried chicken and kool-aid squeeze its. I love holidays

Spring Semester

Okay so I just wrote this pretty long post and I deleted it just as I was finishing, so this is going to now be a short post. I type slow as my old Volkswagen Bus drove. Anyway, it's the first day of Spring semester up here at Utah State. I went to Biology this morning and was real happy to see a few friends in the class that I could sit with... Biology isn't my most favoritist subject I'm taking up here. But I am really excited about my fly tying class this Thursday, Who knew it would be so fun to tie threads and feathers together to look like bugs to trick fish into eating? I feel like I'm in 4th grade again playing with "Creepy Crawlers" Ha! I know these kids might be playing with spaghetti but don't you dare try and say that you don't remember Creepy Crawlers! What a good day...

Top 10 High School Dance "NO's"

Church in Logan Utah this morning went something like this...

-Get up and take a shower then go out to my little truck to drive to church, I was stuck and didn't move anywhere... Not even with a push from "Astro boy" my roommate.
-Show up and went to the wrong sacrament meeting, "Oh well, just twice the blessings I guess."
-Finally find where we're supposed to be and it's about time for our own sacrament meeting and this is what happened...

Top 10 ways to say "NO" to a High School Dance.

10- "I'll pass" (written on a football that you pass to her in the hall)
9- Sorry I'm "tied" up. (written on a necktie)
8- "I Don't like you"
7- "I am way out of your league" (written on a baseball)
6- "You're kinda my cousin"
5- "um... I really want to.. But... I already have plans with my mom that night...
4- "I'm kinda getting sick" (written in Pepto Bismol)
3- "Yes.... Psyche!!"
2- "Sorry I have to wash my hair" (written in shampoo)
1- "NO" (written with Urine)

Just another spiritual Sunday up here in Logan. Utah State University singles wards Rock!

First Ugly Christmas Sweater Party of the Season!

So there I was just minding my own business when all of the sudden out of nowhere my lamp LUNGED out at me scalding my thumb! "How did this happen?" I asked myself, then coming to the realization that I am just plain old clumsy. Oh well thanks GE my mom said I could really use a good burn to get my skin looking dark again. Isn't there some kind of law against having light bulbs that get too hot? THERE SHOULD BE! I got a blister... Poor me, oh well.

Last night I went to 2 parties and they were well deserved! I took my first final yesterday and it
was awesome to get a break from all this studying stuff! Don't get me wrong I can cut a little rug if I need to but the smell at the ugly sweater party was UNBEARABLE! I am almost certain that somebody took a deuce in their pants downstairs and was still dancing. I have been wearing my Christmas sweater for the past 8 days straight and this was the first time that I wasn't discriminated against for wearing it. It was an amazing night, thank you Mesathrift for helping me be me.

Mesa Thanksgiving Trip

This past week I went down to Mesa Arizona for Thanksgiving. Sorry I wasn't up here in Logan, Utah this week but I still had a ton of fun. Top 7 things done this past week....

7. Tennis champs of the three fountains living area
6. Ate Tons of freakin food!
5. Hung out with the family in Mesa AZ
4. Walked around the Mesa Temple Christmas lights
3. Hike to the Top of Superstition Mountain at night and slept over on the ground
2. Mountain Bike flying off the back of the car on the way down, it was my roommates that I borrowed. OOPS
1. Volleyball with a whole big group of Hispanics

It was a great week to go down and get some sunshine one last time before it gets too cold up here. Tomorrow is the big Intrameural game up at the Hypr field on Utah State University campus. We were off to a rough start for the season losing our first three games but we have won the past two and are doing great in the Tournament! Intrameurals are one of the funnest things to do in Logan Utah. They are the best sports ever!

Post Game

Alright I admit that we got worked by Boise state but I feel that I needed to clear some things up about their fans... EVERY SINGLE ONE I TALKED TO SUCKED! THEY WERE ALL IGNORANT AND THOUGHT THEY WERE THE BOMB. Way worse than we are for sure. I'm sorry, I went into that game with an open mind but it was rough to be around them. So I said that their were probably some good ones which there still might be but I have yet to meet one. Anyway that is my update, good luck to them. I hope that they do well.

USU vs. Boise State

Tonight is the football game that we have been waiting for all season! The Utah State Aggies are taking on Boise State tonight here at Romney Stadium. It is gonna be shown on ESPN 2 baby! If it is anything like the game last year there will be a HUGE crowd! Boise has tons of loyal fans(I met a few this afternoon and think they are punks, but I'm sure they're not all bad) that come down but they are still no match for the LOUD, ANNOYING, and of coarse RUTHLESS USU FANS. We seem to always put up a good fight against the Broncos. It will get down below freezing tonight at the 7:30 game and the wind is just unforgiving as it comes out of Logan canyon. It is all worth while when you hear the cannons fire and see the cheerleaders get down and do push ups as the crowd roars from another touchdown! So if you want to do something fun in Logan... put on your aggie gear and come to the football game.

Finally... I don't know where I'm going but I'm gonna get there.

Registration for classes started last week for me and I had NO IDEA what classes I wanted to take because I just DON'T KNOW what I want to do with my life. The only thing that I now know is that I DON'T want to be doing anything that has to do with Chemistry or Biology. I DO NOT understand that science stuff, I don't even have a desire to learn it is the hardest part, I wish that I did. But I really like my Economics class and my teacher, Diana Thomas is Awesome! So I went into the councilor and she got me on a plan to help aim me in a direction, so I'm headed towards the business field!
I was even able to schedule my classes so that I can go snowboarding like 4 days a week if I want to. Beaver said that they would have me back to instruct this season again so I'm real excited.
