70 Degrees All Week!

This past week's weather has been so nice! I went for a bike ride Thursday afternoon and it felt so nice, the first one of the season. I also got out the tandem on Tuesday that we rode around for a little bit, it might need some work for this up coming summer. But Monday night was funny, we decided to make some cookies so we went to the grocery store and bought all we needed for some Cadbury Egg Cookies. They sounded so amazing and by the time we got done it was past midnight and we didn't even want them anymore. Ha! And they didn't taste that good, but the next morning for breakfast they were Awesome! It all worked out in the end.

Spring Break 2011

Last week was so nice, I went to St. George for the first weekend and got to get some nice warm weather for a few days. On Monday though, Megan and I got stuck in a hail storm in Snow Canyon. It was NAILING us with these gob stopper sized hail!! Then after 5 minutes it just stopped and was so nice after that. We rock climbed with friends and rode long boards around and played some kick ball. It was just a really nice getaway for a couple days then we came home and went skiing one afternoon and played around at home, this last week was just what I needed...

Ragnar Del Sol

The Ragnar Relay Series has an event that goes on every month all around the United States. I ran one that was held in Las Vegas this past fall and we went down with a group from Utah State this past weekend to compete in the one from Wickenburg, AZ down around for 197 miles and finished in Tempe, AZ. The race started at 8:30 on Friday and we didn't end until like 4:00 pm Saturday. One of the funnest parts is decorating the cars and the fun rivalry between teams. We made lots of friends and cheered each other on the entire way. It was such a rough day and a half! The way that it works is that each team has 12 runners on it. Two vans or suburbans full of 6 people each. It really is pretty fun how you all work together to make it to the end, but the 3 legs can get pretty rough when you have an 8 hour break in between runs that you are stuck sitting in the back seat. I got super sore by the end and was being such a wimp, but the whole team ran from between 12-21 miles spread out throughout the race. After we got done we went hot tubbing and drove back to St. George. Great weekend trip, it was fun to be with friends and I even am starting to like Justin Beiber... It was a wild ride

Spring At Last!.. Well For now

It was so warm today, I was at Beaver Mountain all day long today and I saw lots of people in skinny jeans, T-shirts, and a few in normal old shorts. It was crazy, I can't believe how warm it has been the last few days up here! It has totally felt like March or April, But I hear that it is going to snow tomorrow night... We will see about that I guess. I went for a run on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail this afternoon and it was a killer! I think I almost died, it was way hard for me! I am in a group that is running the Ragnar Relay down in Mesa, AZ in 2 weeks and I am totally not ready, time to get training!!!!

Green Canyon Yurt

At the top of Green Canyon in Logan is the yurt of all yurts. The road closes off at beginning of the winter and doesn't allow any motorized vehicles beyond that point until the spring. The only one allowed is the snowmobile that pulls the groomer along to keep the trail nice for hikers, cross-country skiers, and sledders. It's about a three and a half to four mile walk from the parking lot to the yurt. It took us almost 2 hours to get up and we started at five in the afternoon and had light for about half the way and then it was super dark and the stars covered the sky. The night was beautiful this past Saturday on into Sunday morning and the temperatures were in the twenties. Despite the cold, inside the yurt was very comfortable. The wood burning stove produced enough heat to keep the 12 of us warm all night long. Six bunkbeds were provided with 3 inch foam that made for a very comfortable nights sleep. The walk down in the morning was a breeze after walking up the night before in the dark. Utah State Students get a discount on the rental of the Yurt and any equipment that you might want for the trip, it was a lot of fun and would always recommend this to people thinking about going up to this yurt.

Snowboarding Saturday

I went up to Beaver Mountain on Saturday and it was so nice! Last week it rained up there and the snow had been so nasty for about a week and finally we got a couple little storms that came in and made everything soft again. Megan and I went up and met her friend Hailey and we had a lot of fun with them. Her little brother was awesome on his skis... I felt like a little kid going off jumps after him because he was so good. Afterwards we went up to Bear Lake and ate some pizza at "Old Ephraim's", it topped off the day for us. After that we went to the Aggie Basketball Game up at the "Spectrum" and watched our team stomp New Mexico.

Spring 2011 Semester Begins

Winter break was SO FUN! I was home for the most part of it other than the week that I went to Mexico with my girlfriend's family. It was super fun being able to build houses and mingle with some of the families down there. I started school this Monday and I am really happy with my schedule. It took a few days to get everything that I wanted in the order that I wanted it in. I have 16 credits with my favorite one at the end of the day... Beginning Swim. I am the worst swimmer and I want to do a triathlon this year and not get totally KILLED at the first of the race. I know that I will get worked the rest of the race I just don't want it to happen that early.

Christmas Break 2010!

This Christmas break is going to be great! I am so excited to go to Mexico with Megan and her family, we are leaving Christmas night and driving down to Rocky Point (15 hours...) Ha but they are a way fun family and I get along with them really good. We are going down with several other families to build a few houses in a week, I think that it will be super fun. I am going to film a lot of it so hopefully next month it will be on the USU Admissions website. I just went down to Mesa, AZ this past weekend which is like the same route that we will take to mexico only it was a little shorter (11 hours total) so it might be a drag going down again this weekend, Ha! Oh well, I really like her. So yeah, talk to you soon.

College Night

Cafe' Sabor just worked me over! A few friends and I went down to "College Night" to get Burritos and drinks tonight and I was STARVING!! I couldn't believe it because I only ate half of my burreet... and that was with me pushing myself. But during dinner Alan got a call from his little brother who was opening his mission call and it was pretty fun. He was on "Facetime" with his iPhone and we watched him open it. Spain Baby! I'm not sure where so Congrats but Alan was actually pretty jealous, he wanted to go their so bad on his mission even though we all know that the Alabama-Iowa area are the best to go to. But any mission is a good mission.

Aggie Blue Bikes

I took my mountain bike up on campus this afternoon to get my brakes working the right way. Since I got this bike I have had a hard time with getting it to function the way that it should. It was given to me by my step-dad who had it for nearly 10 years. At the first of the summer I took it up there and they helped me put on new front shocks and it was so nice to have their help and to save all that money that a bike shop would have charged. Well today I went up there to do just a "quick" adjustment but I ended up spending an hour and a half doing a complete overhaul on the rear end of the bike. I smoothed down the brake pads, oiled and greased everything, trued the rear wheel, and replaced the brake lines. It only cost me $4 for the brake lines and housing and that was it. The guys in the shop helped me do everything and it works way better now! Aggie Blue Bikes is free for all students and factory up at Utah State.

I went fishing this week! It was fun to go up the Logan river and catch a couple with my roommate Greg. We only went up for like 45 minutes and we both brought in one each and missed a couple. The weather has been so nice that we weren't even wearing jackets, i just had a long sleeve and was doing great. The canyon get so cold because of the wind coming down but it was an awesome day. Earlier we had been working on my new project, I bought an old moped to fix up. It's a 1980 Honda express, it looks and rides like a bicycle. It is basically an old bmx bike with a little motor and gas tank on the back to make it go. But it has been a fun bike to have around. I have a 1968 Honda trail 90 that I have been riding for a couple years now and they are both just super fun bikes to ride. Both have a lot of character and can be really tempermental. I just got sick the other day so I have been trying to get some rest lately and just get over it, this daylight savings time ending gave me an extra hour of sleep last night that was much appreciated.

All About Socks...

I got a job at the sock factory up in North Logan a month or two ago and we are opening up a retail store in the mall tomorrow. It was supposed to open up right after I was hired but there have been lots of unexpected delays. So FINALLY it will be opened tomorrow and that will be a relief. Chase just came over to visit tonight, he has been painting windows on main street getting ready for homecoming this coming week. But anyways I am really excited for this job to start. I have been working for them out at the factory just getting things ready for the store in the mall to open. And I haven't had a set schedule really yet so it will be nice to have something consistent for work to go with my school schedule here at Utah State. Homecoming week is this weekend but I am going down to Las Vegas to run in the Ragnar Relay. I think that I am going to die!

UTAH STATE vs. BYU

The BYU Football game this last Saturday was amazing! They have had a bad season and our team wasn't about to let them change that. 31-16 was the final score and to those poor BYU fans, sorry for the long drive and ending with such a disappointment. But thanks for all the tickets that you purchased... Well that was a good game and I'm glad that my AGGIES showed up and put BYU where they belong. This week was super fun and the Utah State fans really stood proud at the game, many of them camping out the night before on the quad to get a good spot at the game. After the game was over, AGGIES from all around the stadium flooded the field in celebration. That really was a good time to be there and it was one that I won't forget soon.

Aggie Football

Fresno State got their butts kicked for three quarters! It's too bad we couldn't keep it up the entire game. Our football team this year has been really impressive so far. Even though our record is 1-2, our players have been showin up this season. I went to the game like two and a half hours early to help gather up some of the Freshman and went to the tailgate party. It was super fun! After we went to Texas Roadhouse and got some food with friends. It was a great little weekend we had up here in Logan. Too bad the game didn't go our way.
