Christmas Break 2010!

This Christmas break is going to be great! I am so excited to go to Mexico with Megan and her family, we are leaving Christmas night and driving down to Rocky Point (15 hours...) Ha but they are a way fun family and I get along with them really good. We are going down with several other families to build a few houses in a week, I think that it will be super fun. I am going to film a lot of it so hopefully next month it will be on the USU Admissions website. I just went down to Mesa, AZ this past weekend which is like the same route that we will take to mexico only it was a little shorter (11 hours total) so it might be a drag going down again this weekend, Ha! Oh well, I really like her. So yeah, talk to you soon.

College Night

Cafe' Sabor just worked me over! A few friends and I went down to "College Night" to get Burritos and drinks tonight and I was STARVING!! I couldn't believe it because I only ate half of my burreet... and that was with me pushing myself. But during dinner Alan got a call from his little brother who was opening his mission call and it was pretty fun. He was on "Facetime" with his iPhone and we watched him open it. Spain Baby! I'm not sure where so Congrats but Alan was actually pretty jealous, he wanted to go their so bad on his mission even though we all know that the Alabama-Iowa area are the best to go to. But any mission is a good mission.

Aggie Blue Bikes

I took my mountain bike up on campus this afternoon to get my brakes working the right way. Since I got this bike I have had a hard time with getting it to function the way that it should. It was given to me by my step-dad who had it for nearly 10 years. At the first of the summer I took it up there and they helped me put on new front shocks and it was so nice to have their help and to save all that money that a bike shop would have charged. Well today I went up there to do just a "quick" adjustment but I ended up spending an hour and a half doing a complete overhaul on the rear end of the bike. I smoothed down the brake pads, oiled and greased everything, trued the rear wheel, and replaced the brake lines. It only cost me $4 for the brake lines and housing and that was it. The guys in the shop helped me do everything and it works way better now! Aggie Blue Bikes is free for all students and factory up at Utah State.

I went fishing this week! It was fun to go up the Logan river and catch a couple with my roommate Greg. We only went up for like 45 minutes and we both brought in one each and missed a couple. The weather has been so nice that we weren't even wearing jackets, i just had a long sleeve and was doing great. The canyon get so cold because of the wind coming down but it was an awesome day. Earlier we had been working on my new project, I bought an old moped to fix up. It's a 1980 Honda express, it looks and rides like a bicycle. It is basically an old bmx bike with a little motor and gas tank on the back to make it go. But it has been a fun bike to have around. I have a 1968 Honda trail 90 that I have been riding for a couple years now and they are both just super fun bikes to ride. Both have a lot of character and can be really tempermental. I just got sick the other day so I have been trying to get some rest lately and just get over it, this daylight savings time ending gave me an extra hour of sleep last night that was much appreciated.

All About Socks...

I got a job at the sock factory up in North Logan a month or two ago and we are opening up a retail store in the mall tomorrow. It was supposed to open up right after I was hired but there have been lots of unexpected delays. So FINALLY it will be opened tomorrow and that will be a relief. Chase just came over to visit tonight, he has been painting windows on main street getting ready for homecoming this coming week. But anyways I am really excited for this job to start. I have been working for them out at the factory just getting things ready for the store in the mall to open. And I haven't had a set schedule really yet so it will be nice to have something consistent for work to go with my school schedule here at Utah State. Homecoming week is this weekend but I am going down to Las Vegas to run in the Ragnar Relay. I think that I am going to die!

UTAH STATE vs. BYU

The BYU Football game this last Saturday was amazing! They have had a bad season and our team wasn't about to let them change that. 31-16 was the final score and to those poor BYU fans, sorry for the long drive and ending with such a disappointment. But thanks for all the tickets that you purchased... Well that was a good game and I'm glad that my AGGIES showed up and put BYU where they belong. This week was super fun and the Utah State fans really stood proud at the game, many of them camping out the night before on the quad to get a good spot at the game. After the game was over, AGGIES from all around the stadium flooded the field in celebration. That really was a good time to be there and it was one that I won't forget soon.

Aggie Football

Fresno State got their butts kicked for three quarters! It's too bad we couldn't keep it up the entire game. Our football team this year has been really impressive so far. Even though our record is 1-2, our players have been showin up this season. I went to the game like two and a half hours early to help gather up some of the Freshman and went to the tailgate party. It was super fun! After we went to Texas Roadhouse and got some food with friends. It was a great little weekend we had up here in Logan. Too bad the game didn't go our way.

Fall 2010

Well here we go again! It's my fourth semester up here at Utah State and I'm just about 2 weeks into it. So I'm finally getting my schedule the way that I think that I want it and I have a test next time in Accounting... Figures. I feel like the last 3 weekends have been super fun, it's kind of hard to get myself focused. 3 weeks ago I went to Jackson Hole fishing and rafting down the river, 2 weeks ago I went down to Havasupai Falls in the Grand Canyon, and this last weekend I went to Island Park, Idaho with my family, we went fishing and saw Old Faithful (Which by the way was a HUGE letdown). So I have had tons of fun lately and I just want it to keep going through the school year but don't worry, it will;) Yeah I'm doing smiley faces now.... Well Me, Greg, and Bryce(new guy) went to the local grocery store today and got us a little house warming scooter. I think that this is the best one yet! P.s. Aggie football game this weekend!!

Summer in Logan

So the day after finals I left with some friends to go to San Diego, it was such a great break after school. We rented a beach house done in Mission Beach and it was super nice! We boogie boarded, body surfed, and skim boarded every day. We also went fishing off the Pier, bought a bunch of garbage at the swap meet, and road long boards and beach cruisers up and down the boardwalk. It was really fun to get a break and since I've been back I have felt like I have just been working non-stop. It is good though I haven't had a real job for a while so it's nice to finally start making a little money...

Finals Next Week!

Finals are NEXT WEEK!! I can't believe that it's going to be summer! I'm so excited, I'm just ready for some warm weather and to be able to take a break and go on a few vacations. I leave for Mission Beach, CA the day after my last final... starting things off right I'd say! Tonight I went down to Layton to play softball on a league down there with my brother and a few high school friends, It Was Awesome! We were down by 8 points in 5th inning and in the 6th we scored 10 and WON! It was the best feeling ever... Probably one of the funnest games that I have ever played. So now I'm gonna try to stay focused for the next 10 or 11 days and finish strong then have the best summer ever! I went down to Escalante this past weekend to hike "Coyote Gulch", it was super fun and I am way antsy to go on some fun trips this summer.

E-Week, Campus Rail Jam

Last week there was a rail jam up on campus that I competed in... I got spanked by those other guys! There was a lot of talent up there but more than that it was just SUPER FUN! They came the day before and started setting up the rails in the middle of the quad. There wasn't any snow and they had plans of hauling down 25 TONS of snow from Beaver Mtn. That night it snowed 8" in Logan and there was no need to bring down snow, it was perfect. The snow is all gone now and all that's left are the memories, but I would do it again in a heart beat.

Spring Break '010

Just got back from spring break in Mexico Friday morning, there were about 50 students from Utah State that went down there. We left last Friday and got there on Sunday afternoon after stopping in both St. George, Las Vegas, and Phoenix on the way. We stayed in Rocky Point and had some great warm weather for a few days. We did a bunch of skim boarding and swimming, it was just nice to go down and relax on the sand. Thursday morning we went out on a small fishing boat at about 7:00 A.M. with 5 other guys and 1 girl, it ended up being a blast, definitely a highlight of the trip! The drive home was agonizing! It took like 16 hours and we drove straight through, 5 of us in a Toyota Corolla, yeah baby! My heart goes out to Conner, he had his car stolen while we were there and thank you Mexican government, Extremely helpful... NOT! So, Sorry buddy I'll give you a ride wherever you need on my moped.

Hmmm... What to do in Logan tomorrow?

So elections are starting tomorrow up here and I am on the elections committee up here for students running for ASUSU offices. The poles open for voting in the morning and will go till friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.. But that's not what I'm excited about, oh no. My student ward up here is going to Beaver Mtn. Ski resort for their annual ski night. I work up there in the afternoon tomorrow so I will already be there. Skiing starts at 5:00 and will go till about 9:00 or so. Last year we did this and I got to take like all of the left over food from dinner so I slept over in the tiny little shack up there and had food for the next day of skiing. It was probably one of my most memorable nights up here. I was all alone and had no cell phone service but I got Wi-Fi so I emailed a few friends to keep sane and watched "HotRod" ALL ALONE! It was way fun though, I remember laughing at that movie by myself and feeling dorky but had nobody to make fun of me so I kept laughing. Tomorrow I will film some of the activities of the day and hopefully learn how to post them on this blog. If not I'm sure that you'll see them at http://www.usu.edu/admissions/friends/

Spelling Bee

Tonight was the 1st annual spelling bee by the college of education up at the school. The winner got a Brand New Mac book and the three runners up all received prizes as well. But the 3rd and 4th place winners got wimpy dictionaries. I signed up thinking that it would be a good experience, I have never been in a spelling bee before. but it turned out being much more difficult than I thought it would be. I lost in the second round! T.R.E.A.C.H.E.R.O.U.S. was the sad sad word that I went out on. Spelling Bees are difficult. The spotlight is shining directly in your eyes, my knees were shaking, the crowd heckled, it was just an all around scary experience. Oh well, if I didn't get out in the 2nd round I would have been eliminated like 1 or 2 rounds later. But ask me that word in 50 years and I guarantee that I won't misspell it again. I may still spell every fifth word or so wrong on this blog, but I will not spell treacherous wrong again.

Spring "Aggie Blue"

At the end of summer last year I went to a fall leadership conference up here at Utah State called "Aggie Blue". This past week we had a little reunion with all the students that attended this leadership conference. It was way fun! We had a big raffle and everybody got free Costa Vida. then we had a guest speaker come in and talk about many different things that were very helpful to me. I have always struggled with taking the initiative and setting too small of goals. He hit those two points right on the nose. I would recommend "Aggie Blue" to any student that is now or in the future going to attend Utah State, it is a great learning and building experience!

Martin Luther King Jr. Day!!

Yep, Froze our bums off this morning... so last night my friend Tyson and I were debating on what we should today since we were out of school for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. So I threw out the idea to go fly fishing up the Logan river which sounded really good last night while we were sitting in our nice warm house watching 24. This morning was a different story. I woke up to a fresh sheet of snow on my windshield and the desire to fish had completely subsided. But later on the weather warmed up a little and we headed up the canyon about twenty minutes from Utah State ready for anything... so we thought. The water was freezing cold, even with our sweats, wool socks, sweaters, jackets, waders, and hats. My toes nearly fell off I swear! So it was cold but at least we didn't catch any fish...
Just another great holiday fishing trip
It was all redeemed tonight when we went to KFC with some friends and had fried chicken and kool-aid squeeze its. I love holidays

Spring Semester

Okay so I just wrote this pretty long post and I deleted it just as I was finishing, so this is going to now be a short post. I type slow as my old Volkswagen Bus drove. Anyway, it's the first day of Spring semester up here at Utah State. I went to Biology this morning and was real happy to see a few friends in the class that I could sit with... Biology isn't my most favoritist subject I'm taking up here. But I am really excited about my fly tying class this Thursday, Who knew it would be so fun to tie threads and feathers together to look like bugs to trick fish into eating? I feel like I'm in 4th grade again playing with "Creepy Crawlers" Ha! I know these kids might be playing with spaghetti but don't you dare try and say that you don't remember Creepy Crawlers! What a good day...
